Conversational Arabic
(Fus-ha)
This program does not only focus on listening and speaking skills, but
also on understanding the Arabic culture to achieve a better
communication with the Arab people.
1 - Levels:
5 levels
2 Goals:
Level One:
At the end of this level students should be able to manage a
conversation with Arabs .This stage aims at training the student to use
Arabic in his daily life, so that he can introduce himself ;get
acquainted with people; describe his trip; make a phone call; ask about
someone who is not present; describe his studies(location and
specialization); describe the symptoms of his illness and go to a
suitable doctor; deal with a taxi driver; pay the bill in a restaurant;
and get acquainted with the customs and habits of Arabs (visiting the
sick, celebrating the success, respecting elder people, having good
family ties,--. etc.)
Level Two:
At the end of this level the student will be able to:
- Take part in
job interviews.
- Describe
his/her experiences.
- He will also
become more aware of Arab customs for example in celebrating the month
of Ramadan
- Describe the
celebration of the national day in his country.
- Discuss (in
Arabic) the effect of technology in his society.
- Recognize the
educational system in Egypt and compare it to that of his
country.
- Speak about
geographical, economic, and spiritual aspects in the Arab world.
Level Three:
At the end of this level the student will be able to:
- Describe the
important monuments in Egypt in comparison to the monuments in his
country.
- Become more
aware of Arab customs for example in marriage and death.
- Manage a
conversation with Arabs in general topics.
- Know the
points of agreement and disagreement between the Arabic-
Islamic culture and Western culture (from an Arab point of view).
Level Four:
At the end of this level the student will be able to:
- Describe his
journey in sea of the Arabic language.
- Compare
between his view of the Arab world after studying the Arabic language
and before.
- Give
suggestions to strengthen the relations between the East and the West.
- Become
familiar with the customs and traditions in the Arab world.
Level Five:
At the end of this level the student will be able to:
- Discuss
the cultural foundations of the Arabic language mentioning Arabic
proverbs and most common expressions.

Introduce most famous artists, politicians, elites, scientists, and
sportsmen in Egypt (historically and nowadays).

Describe the most vital places in Egypt.
